For some agencies, knowing who is available to respond and who is not is valuable information.
This information can be used to get a rough idea on who would call in as "responding" should
an incident occur. It can also be used for preplanning during high probability periods such as
weather related events and high fire danger periods.
Each agency can create their own location & position event data to fit their needs for both the
available & unavailable grids. An example of an available location might be where the member
is at, such as at work. Available events could be all emergency calls, major events, strike teams
and or rescue calls.
Members can change their availability status in one of four ways: the smartphone app, calling in from a phone, from a PC, or automatically using the scheduler.
The value of a member being able use the smartphone app or to call in from a phone is that it can be done from any location and does not require members to be in front of a personal computer or adjust a duty board at the station. This simple and easy feature will encourage members to regularly keep their status up to date.
The scheduler enables members to create their own schedules and their status will automatically change according the schedule.
The FFRS application and the mobile web app both allow a member to change their status with just a few clicks.
Mobile data terminals, tablets, smartphones, computers or any other device that is connected to the system can be used to provide real-time members availability data in the field.
